The current production capacity of Kuwait's crude oil amounts to 3.15 million barrels per day
The Vice President and Deputy Managing Director for Planning and gas in the Kuwait Oil Company, Mohamed Hussein, told Reuters on Wednesday that the current production capacity of Kuwait's crude oil amounted to 3.15 million barrels per day. Hussein added that the Kuwait Oil Company was pumping about 2.85 million barrels per day of this energy production while the production capacity of Kuwait in the neutral zone the remaining amount of 300 thousand barrels per day. The average current production capacity from the neutral zone is 538 thousand barrels per day and is the area between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, due to the treaties concluded in the twenties of the last century to establish territorial boundaries. Hussein said the current production of oil in Kuwait's fourth-largest oil exporter in the world specific quotas of OPEC. According to a Reuters survey, Kuwait's crude production in January stood at 2.28 million barrels, and maintained to reduce OPEC production target unchanged since late December of 2008 when they agreed to cut production by 4.2 million barrels per day to cope with falling demand and falling prices. He added that the new center to collect oil and gas will add 165 thousand barrels per day to Kuwait after the power has been tested plant this month. The facility is called GC -24. He said that another facility in northern Kuwait, will add 20 thousand barrels per day. Operation is likely to be delayed in June. Hussein said the center second facility, (G C -16) in the west of Kuwait, will add 100 thousand barrels per day but did not specify a date for the startup. He said that Kuwait has supported its early last year through the addition of about 400 thousand barrels per day from Burgan field, bringing the energy production capacity to 1.7 million barrels per day. Burgan is one of the largest oil fields in the world. Hussein said Kuwait faced some problems in its plans to increase production of gas from the deep due to the composition of Jurassic age in the north. He said that production was below the 175 million cubic feet per day when Kuwait was hoping for now. Hussein said Kuwait plans to increase production of this layer to 600 million cubic feet per day by 2012 and to one billion cubic feet per day by 2015 to 2016. The gas comes from six fields in the north and all share the same layer of gas. Like its neighbors, the demand for gas in Kuwait increased to generate electric power after the oil revenues that supported growth. Hussein said the gas production of between 1.1 billion cubic feet and 1.3 billion cubic feet, depending on the production of oil. Comes most of the gas produced as a byproduct of the Kuwaiti oil.m.e
