Algerian Energy Minister holds talks with the Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy
The Minister of Energy and Mines of Algeria, Youcef Yousfi, held talks with Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Tadahiro Matsushita. A statement of the Ministry of energy and mines of Algeria told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the talks focused on the development partnership and bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, especially in the sectors of fuel, electricity and renewable energies. The source added that Japanese companies contribute to the completion of several projects in Algeria, most notably energy projects implemented by the Company (JGC), one of the most prominent companies in the oil and gas fields in the world. In 2008, (Chiyoda) Company of Japan in partnership with the Italian company (Broujeti) has won a deal to complete a new plant for liquefied natural gas in the area (Arzew) industrial state of Oran, west of Algiers. The Japanese official visit aimed to revive the economic partnership between the two countries. The new Algerian Energy Minister, Youcef Yousfi, told Reuters recently that his country hoped to establish the next round of licenses for oil and gas before the end of this year committed to a timetable prepared by his predecessor. When Yousefi was asked about the date of holding the next licensing round, he replied: "Soon, God willing, before the end of the year."m.e
