The Ministry of Oil is organizing the Digital Transformation Award Ceremony (Hackathon 2021) in its first edition this Sunday morning, November 7, 2021, under the patronage and presence of His Excellency the Minister of Oil and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Abdul Latif Al-Faris, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Sheikh Dr. Nimr Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah, and His Excellency the Assistant Undersecretaries And gentlemen, officials of oil companies in the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and academics from various participating universities and colleges, in the theater of the Oil Sector Complex.
The Ministry of Oil said in a press statement that the Digital Transformation Award, in cooperation with Schlumberger, is the culmination of efforts that lasted for several months of honest competition between all participants from various parties to create an advanced digital oil program that will be used to implement and monitor all oil operations through artificial intelligence, which helps To learn new digital skills in the oil industry.
In this context, His Excellency the Minister of Oil and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Muhammad Abdul Latif Al-Faris said that the Kuwaiti oil sector is the main pillar of the national industry and the main tributary to the local economy, and in light of the oil sector strategy for 2040, the State of Kuwait is on the verge of developing several vital and strategic projects aimed at promoting the oil industry And gas in various fields, and here comes the role of innovation and modern digital technologies that will help the oil industry to keep pace with competition, extreme accuracy in operation, and enhance levels of security and safety.
He explained that the oil sector provides many opportunities to achieve digital transformation, as the sector has developed plans and strategies for development based on digital technologies, and digital transformation is no longer just an option for countries, but rather it has become a necessary thing to achieve sustainable development.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Sheikh Dr. Nimr Fahad Al-Malik Al-Sabah said that the Ministry of Oil pays great attention to enhancing the role of digital and technological transformation in the oil and gas industry, because this transformation has a significant impact on all the operations of companies operating in the oil sector and is an integral part of the operational process of this sector, through the use of modern methodologies In the field of digital transformation, big data, artificial intelligence, the Internet of things and other modern technologies that work towards a comprehensive transformation of all operations into the digital system.
He stated that the Digital Transformation Award provides many job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth to work in the oil sector, in addition to acquiring new technical skills for our human cadres, in addition to providing advanced technical capabilities through artificial intelligence, the Internet of things and other modern technologies.

For his part, the Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Oil, Eng. Khaled Walid Al-Din said that the Digital Transformation Award in its first edition has become an exceptional event in the oil sector, and witnessed large participations from various disciplines, amounting to more than 140 participants and 45 teams, and the participation of many employees of oil companies in addition to academics and university students.
Al-Din pointed out that the projects submitted to the award over the past months are considered a pride for the State of Kuwait in using the sciences of the oil industry to enhance the added value, and confirm that the new generation is armed with the latest technology to manage oil and gas facilities through artificial intelligence.
